Passed Out

After his bath, Asher was so mad that he wore himself out and collapsed from exhaustion. Yay!

Hangin' out with Daddy.

And grinning for Grandma!

Purring

This video is about a month old, but thought you'd enjoy it... Asher, purring.

Wednesday

So we had Asher's ABR hearing test yesterday, but won't know results on how severe his hearing loss is for a few days. Stay tuned. In the meantime, here are a few irresistible pics...

Fires

There are at least half a dozen fires burning in Southern California, including one in the Santa Rosa Valley, which is just a few miles from me. It's making the sky look like this, a view from our balcony:

Pics, anyone?

Here we are on our way to get one-month pics taken...

The chubby cheeks create a pacifier ring. :o)

We sneaked a quick pic in the studio while we were waiting for our portraits to print.

Getting too big for the portable sleeper bed!

Today Asher had his first nap in his crib! Til now, he's been in the sleeper or Boppy in the living room or in the Pack-n-Play in our room. (Yes, I'll be removing the stuffy and the pillow.)

Took Asher to my office one day last week. He ate, then feel asleep so hard that he didn't even notice when I set him on the desk to change his diaper.

The Latest

Trying out the sling... Worked great (this time, at least!).

Stacy came to visit last week, and was SUCH a big help with Asher! It was so much fun to see her, because it's been since our wedding that we last visited.

Ken takes Asher on a walk in the Bjorn.

Grandma talks to Great Auntie Merilyn while Alicia cooks supper.

This is the first time Asher wore something other than a onesie/sleeper.

One of his favorite sleeping positions...

Heading out on the town.

Checkin' in...

Seems like I rarely have two hands free for typing. I should be napping now, but have to take advantage of the rare bit of quiet to post!

On the Town

Today was Asher's first big day out and about. At 12:30 we went to the chiropractor (for Ken and me), then to the hospital to see Christye and Kevin's new baby girl, Louise. Then we snagged Kevin from the hospital and went to Alamo for lunch. Yo quiero huevos rancheros! We didn't get home til about 4. Asher slept most of the time, so he was probably none the wiser to all the running about.

Here are Asher and Louise (who was born at 7 lbs. 3 ozs.), born almost exactly one week apart (and Asher was 40 weeks, 4 days; Louise was 40 weeks, 1 day). The difference in their size is hysterical and incredible. Amazing what three little pounds can do... I could've pushed Louise out in five minutes! Hehehehe...

And here's our cutie, relaxing for his afternoon nap on the Boppy. I wish I'd caught the photo only a moment sooner, because his arm was straight up in the air as if he was pointing at the ceiling. Too funny.

Merilyn's blankie

Asher is enjoying the warm fuzzies of one of my Aunt Merilyn's famous baby blankies. (Thank you!)

Things have been going well. I'm starting to get a little more sleep at night (knocking on wood). His eye infection is getting better. All the doctors' reports have been positive for both of us. So, even though the new baby life isn't easy, we're very blessed and are completely in love with our not-so-little bundle.

Asher pics

Here's a link to the album with more pics.

Phew!

Seems new-motherhood doesn't allow much time for internet - at least nothing that requires typing. So while I'm nursing, I'll blog via Blackberry. We're surviving parenthood with what will not likely amount to permanent scars. :o). Asher has any e-coli infection in his eyes, so that's been a pain. He also seems confused on "day" vs. "Night." Last night he and I were up til 5 a.m.

More later...

The latest...

Quarter to 9 pm and still no name. But we'll decide before the night is over.

Baby has a blocked duct or eye infection or something, which is making him miserable; poor baby! And he's a little stuffy, which is making him breathe like a pug when he gets worked up. So I bet this'll be a long night. Again. But, so be it.

Otherwise, I've got some high-dose pain meds going, so as long as I'm not walking around, I'm reasonably comfortable.

Pedi will do the circ tomorrow. Then we'll head home.

No such luck...

Baby and nurses didn't let me sleep til 5:45 ... And awake at 6:35 for baby noises and pediatrician rounding. Oh well; he's worth it!

Ken went to sleep at 2 and will probably have to get up soon. Mmmm, take that back; the pediatrician was just in to say that baby looks "wonderful" and talk about him, and Ken didn't budge. Guess the excitement (and the Ambien) knocked him out cold! Hehehehe...

I'll likely have my cell ringer off much of the day, but I am checking email and returning calls when pain and procedure allow. Thanks everyone for your love and support!

Oh, and yes, we'll pick one of our two names today sometime. Wanted to see him cleaned up and in daylight before we decide. Stay tuned!

Sleep?

Baby no-name (yet) is sleeping peacefully after his bath, screenings and second feeding. My turn (for sleep, that is)... It's 4 am, so I'm ready!

Rested comfortably all night. Contrax are picking up, according to the monitor, but I don't feel them much. A little sore in my low back. Doc should be rounding soon.

4 am update

Resting comfortably. Just got second dose of primer. Maybe some action within a few hours...

Due date

Well, here I am on baby Adams' due date. I'm trying to avoid sharp objects so that I don't get poked and burst! And, for your entertainment, my absurd pillow arrangement; the only way to sleep these days (and even then, not very well!).
